Interviews with the Director of Admissions and the Head of School
are a required component of the application process at Sullins
Academy. Prospective students are also asked to spend at least one
day in the classroom so they and the teachers may obtain a more
personal experience before an admission decision is finalized.
All prospective second – eighth grade students are
administered grade appropriate assessments in reading
comprehension and math ability.
Children entering Kindergarten or first
grade at Sullins Academy take The Scholastic Readiness Test.
Testing takes approximately 45 minutes and will be administered by
the Kindergarten and first grade teachers.
September 30 is the date for determining appropriate age when
placing students in early grades. Using this date as a landmark,
children must reach:
- their fourth birthday to enter the Pre-Kindergarten
- their fifth birthday to enter Kindergarten
- and their sixth birthday to enter the First Grade
faculty in concert with the Head of School will determine
Exceptions to the above birth dates are
considered on an individual basis by the Head of School.
