Ms. Susie Greene, Preschool

Ms. Greene began teaching in 1978 in New York State and has taught in Florida and Virginia for 40 years. Her versatility in the classroom has enabled her to teach pre-school through college. She has been at Sullins Academy for over 20 years and has taught grades from preschool through second over the years.

Mrs. Susan Ruble, Junior Kindergarten | Admissions | Academic Support Coordinator

During Mrs. Ruble's 12 year history with Sullins, she has taught junior kindergarten, kindergarten, first, and second grade. Prior to a career in the field of education, she was employed as a social worker for approximately ten years. Sullins Academy became near and dear to Mrs. Ruble’s heart during her daughter’s attendance in the fifth through eighth grade. She and her husband, Tim, credit Sullins with the development of confidence, time management, and study skills that have served their daughter well into her college career. Mrs. Ruble is passionate about early childhood development and the study of phonics and syllabication.

Mrs. Lakin Jones, Junior Kindergarten

M.S. Educational and Instructional Technology, National University
Mrs. Jones has three years experience at Sullins with the first year as a parent with her daughter. She enjoys spending time outside with her husband and two children, watching Duke basketball, shopping, and traveling.

Mrs. Lindsey Richards, Junior Kindergarten
A.A.S. Early Childhood Education, Northeast State Community College
B.S. Child and Youth Development, Milligan University
Mrs. Richards has been working in early childhood education for over 10 years. She loves being in an inclusive classroom and has a passion for helping young children reach their full potential. She wants every child to walk out of the classroom with more confidence than when they entered. When she is not at school she enjoys spending time with those she loves, which includes her two dogs, watching movies, and being outside.

Mrs. Mary Walling, Kindergarten | Marketing & Communications
B.S. Elementary Education, East Tennessee State University
Mrs. Walling, a Sullins alumna, began her teaching career at Sullins Academy in 2015. She is married to her high school sweetheart, Austin, and they have a son and future Sullins Eagle named Mark. Mrs. Walling enjoys walking her dog, watching movies, shopping, and Hokie football.
"I attended Sullins Academy as a child and truly believe that my love for learning and teaching began here. It is a wonderful experience being able to see the same love for this school shine through each of my kindergarten students. As the Marketing and Communications Coordinator, I am committed to sharing #whySullins is a wonderful place for students to excel in differentiated learning and grow as individuals."


Ms. Shelly Van Wyhe, Kindergarten

M.Ed. King University
Ms. Van Wyhe has 10 years teaching experience, eight of those years at Sullins Academy. She participated in the 2018 ITEEA Conference in Atlanta, Georgia representing S.T.E.A.M education for Sullins. Ms. Van Wyhe has also coached cross-country at Sullins Academy for two seasons as well as served as a liaison and head coach for Girls On the Run. She and her son, Dante, are very athletic and love spending time running, swimming, hiking, and exploring.
