Mrs. Cox was born and raised in South Africa. She has a passion for teaching primary students, guiding them through discovery with songs, games, movement, mindfulness, and art. Mrs. Cox nurtures a deep respect for nature in her students, inspiring a sense of responsibility to care for the earth. Outside the classroom, you’ll find Mrs. Cox in the garden, hiking a trail, or off on an adventure with her husband, Hunter, and their dog, Zuko.

Ms. Caitlin Houser, Junior Kindergarten

Ms. Houser is going into her third year teaching at Sullins Academy. She enjoys spending time with family, camping, and reading.

Ms. Shelly Van Wyhe, Kindergarten

Ms. Van Wyhe serves as the liaison and head coach for Girls On the Run at Sullins and has coached cross-country for two seasons. Ms. Van Wyhe participated in the 2018 ITEEA Conference in Atlanta, Georgia representing S.T.E.A.M education for Sullins. She and her son, Dante, are very athletic and love spending time running, swimming, hiking, and exploring.

Mrs. Mary Walling, Kindergarten | Marketing & Communications

Mrs. Walling, a Sullins alumna, began her teaching career at Sullins Academy in 2015. She is married to her high school sweetheart, Austin, and they have a son, Mark, who is in junior kindergarten. Mrs. Walling enjoys Hokie football, shopping, playing outside with her little boy, and watching movies.
"I attended Sullins Academy as a child and truly believe that my love for learning and teaching began here. It is a wonderful experience being able to see the same love for this school shine through each of my kindergarten students. As the Marketing and Communications Coordinator, I am committed to sharing #whySullins is a wonderful place for students to excel in differentiated learning and grow as individuals."
